HOPKINSVILLE, KY — The former Big Lots location in Hopkinsville will be converted into an Ollie’s Bargain Outlet within the next few months.
Tom Kuypers, Ollie’s Marketing and Advertising SVP, told Christian County Now that they have signed a lease for the site at 2601 Fort Campbell Boulevard and plan to open in the fall.
Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Holdings, Inc. announced in a previous news release that it had acquired 40 former Big Lots store leases from Gordon Brothers, bringing the company’s total acquisitions to 63.
Ollie’s President and CEO, Eric van der Valk, stated, “We are excited to announce the acquisition of an additional 40 former Big Lot store locations.” Everything about these stores aligns with our business and growth strategy.
These locations are the ideal size, have favorable lease terms, are located in existing and adjacent trade areas, and have long served value-conscious consumers.”
According to Ollie’s website, the store is America’s largest retailer of closeout merchandise and excess inventory.
They provide exceptional value on brand-name products in a wide range of categories, including housewares, food, books and stationery, bedding and bath, floor coverings, toys, health and beauty aids, and more.
They currently operate 568 stores in 31 states, and the number is growing.
“Similar to what we have done with previous store acquisitions over the past year, we will adjust our existing new store openings and prioritize the opening of the acquired stores in a manner that makes the most operational and financial sense,” says Mr. van der Valk. “This acquisition, along with the investments we have made to position the company for sustainable long-term growth provides us with the opportunity to accelerate new store openings in 2025 above our 10% annual growth target and open approximately 75 units.”
