Caldwell, Laurel, Pulaski, Russell, Trigg, and Union counties residents are eligible to apply for assistance. This includes temporary housing, loans, and home repairs.

Gov. Andy Beshear says at least 19 people were killed and three are in critical condition after a tornado ripped through Somerset and London earlier this month.

Disaster recovery centers have opened in Laurel and Pulaski counties. FEMA spokesperson Danny Bernardy stated that they intend to open more.

“They are identifying those sites as we speak. The state had already opened these sites for assistance, so we’re joining them there.”

Bernardy stated that anyone who has been impacted, even slightly, should apply.

“Perhaps you didn’t lose everything and just sustained minor damage. You should still come and speak with us because you may be eligible for assistance.

Individuals and business owners who sustained losses in the designated areas should first file claims with their insurance providers and then apply for assistance by registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 1-800-621-3362, or by using the FEMA App.
