Sandy Paws Rescue Inc., a dedicated foster-based dog rescue in Massachusetts, recently informed their community that Dixie, an energetic and loving young pup who has been in rescue for more than a month, is still looking for his forever family.
Dixie recently attended a Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. meet-and-greet, which did not result in a match. “Dixie attended a meet and greet this weekend, but he wasn’t ‘the one’.
“A little ‘too much’,” the rescuers reported after the incident. The silver lining is that Dixie’s true forever family is still out there; they just haven’t met him.
Dixie, a dog currently in foster care on Martha’s Vineyard, exemplifies the ideal combination of athleticism and affection. “He is an energetic boy who is working hard to learn boundaries,” explains his foster family.
“He’s so happy and affectionate!” This zest for life makes him an excellent companion for active individuals or families who enjoy outdoor activities.
Dixie enjoys car rides, walks, and hikes in the outdoors, and he has recently discovered the joys of visiting the beach. He enjoys playing fetch and is very good at it.
Dixie excels at socializing with humans and other animals. He is friendly to other dogs and can coexist peacefully with cats when supervised.
His foster parents emphasize that “Dixie does well with clear, consistent guidance and positive reinforcement.” Because he is treat-motivated, he has made significant progress in his training, having mastered house training and proper leash etiquette. He has also adjusted well to a routine, sleeping soundly in his crate at night.
