A second cyclist dies in a hospital following a collision on Pembroke Road

A second bicyclist died in the hospital following a crash on Pembroke Road in Hopkinsville Monday afternoon.

According to Hopkinsville police, an eastbound SUV struck four bicyclists between Pennyrile Parkway and Eagle Way.

Hopkinsville EMS transported two women on bikes, 31-year-old Marlene Martin and 34-year-old Rachel Hoover, to Jennie Stuart Health before flying them to Nashville hospitals.

Several people stopped after the crash and began performing CPR before emergency personnel arrived. Martin died from her injuries on Tuesday in the hospital, and Hoover died on Saturday, according to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

The SUV’s driver, 30-year-old Isaiah Edwards of Radcliff, was arrested following the crash and charged with his third offense of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, according to the Christian County Jail.
