OAK GROVE, KY — Two Hopkinsville residents are facing drug trafficking charges after nearly 25 grams of meth were discovered in their vehicle during a welfare check for a suspicious vehicle.
On May 11, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Deputies from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to check on a vehicle parked at the Pilot Gas Station in the 12000 block of Fort Campbell Boulevard.
When deputies arrived, the vehicle was stationary, with the headlights and windshield wipers turned on, according to a CCSO news release.
Contact was made with the 34-year-old female suspect sitting in the front passenger seat.
A second person, a 47-year-old man who was registered owner of the vehicle, was seen leaving the store at the gas station. Both people voluntarily provided identification.
Dispatch informed the deputy that the woman had an active criminal summons and was detained. While she exited the vehicle, an open alcoholic beverage container was discovered in plain sight, prompting further investigation.
A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed a small baggie containing suspected methamphetamine in her purse.
According to the CCSO, a further search of the vehicle’s glove box revealed approximately 24.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Both individuals were arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, among other offenses.
