HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – On Thursday, a teenager was recovering from a gunshot wound in Hopkinsville.

According to WKDZ, officers from the Hopkinsville Police Department were dispatched to investigate an early morning shooting on Forbes Drive, but they were unable to locate anyone injured or any suspects.

According to Hopkinsville police, a bullet hole was discovered in an air conditioning unit, and one bullet casing was discovered behind an apartment complex.

Later Thursday morning, just after 7 a.m., officers were called to a home on Seminole Avenue and discovered a 17-year-old with a gunshot wound to the hip, according to WKDZ.

Hopkinsville EMS took the teen to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment.

Detectives believe the teenager was injured during the shooting on Forbes Drive and then fled to a friend’s home on Seminole Avenue to hide.
