A man is accused of evading police in Little River

A Hopkinsville man was charged with fleeing police and assaulting his girlfriend on Riverfront Drive Thursday night.

Hopkinsville Police say they were called for Devontra Burse, 28, who had assaulted his girlfriend, attempted to force her into a vehicle, and then followed her to the police station.

When officers arrived, he allegedly fled on foot, swimming across Little River before being apprehended. Police say he had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet.

Burse was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, first-degree fleeing or evading police, second-degree stalking, DUI, leaving a vehicle on a public road, and fourth-degree assault.
