A Middletown woman was driving home with her children in the car when a bullet grazed the side of her head.
She says she has not driven since the incident on May 15.
“We didn’t hear the shot until it passed through the back windshield. I had a strong feeling right away. “I touched my head and saw blood,” she explained.
She claims that her son was lying down, her daughter was asleep, and she and her boyfriend were talking.
“I was scared, but I knew I needed to get somewhere to keep them safe. I realized I was bleeding. I was hit, but I needed to get them to safety so I could see if they had been hit.”
The woman turned onto Charles Street, the first side street she saw, and sought assistance from a neighbor.
She claims her children and boyfriend were not hurt.
“I’m not sure why.” I have no idea who it is, and that is the scariest part.
The woman was rushed to Atrium Medical Center and then transferred to UC Medical Center, where she claims they discovered a shell casing in her wig.
According to the pictures, the bullet grazed the side of her head, leaving a gash.
“From what the doctor said, because I was leaning over at the time reaching down to get my purse, it was one centimeter from me not being here,” she informed me. “I just know my purpose here isn’t over. “I still have a purpose.”
There is no word yet on whether a suspect has been apprehended, which is why we are not identifying the woman.
She cannot return to work until her wound has healed.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help her family survive until that happens.
