Hopkinsville Community College and Madisonville Community College are celebrating after their joint surgical technology program won first place in an annual competition.
The “Scrub Bowl” competition, part of the Association of Surgical Technologists Kentucky State Annual Conference, is a trivia-style event that brings together surgical technology students from across the state. It tests their knowledge and prepares them for upcoming certification exams.
The Madisonville-Hopkinsville team won this year’s competition, and the program is a collaboration between the two colleges to meet the Pennyrile region’s demand for skilled surgical technologists.
Applications for the 2025-2026 cohort are due May 1. Classes start in August.
