A man from Hopkinsville was charged with methamphetamine distribution

PADUCAH, Ky. – On March 11, a federal grand jury in Paducah indicted a Hopkinsville man for distributing methamphetamine.

According to the indictment, Tommy Powers, 41, was charged with two counts of distributing more than 50 grams of methamphetamine in Christian County on October 11, 2014 and October 15, 2024.

This week, Powers appeared in court for the first time before a United States Magistrate Judge in the Western District of Kentucky. The court ordered that he be detained pending trial.

If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum of ten years and a maximum of life in prison. According to the release, a federal district court judge will consider the sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors when determining any sentence.

There is no parole in the federal system.

The Hopkinsville Police Department, the ATF Bowling Green Field Office, and the DEA Paducah Post of Duty Office are all investigating this case.
