HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. — Five people were injured in a collision in Hopkinsville on Sunday afternoon, with two of them in critical condition, according to officials.
Hopkinsville Fire/EMS initially reported the crash at 4:22 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, saying personnel were dealing with a collision involving two vehicles near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Pembroke Road. Officials added that Air Medical had been dispatched for one man and one child.
According to WKDZ Radio, the Hopkinsville Police Department reported that a tractor-trailer collided with an SUV on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way as it crossed Pembroke Road.
At 5:10 p.m., Hopkinsville Fire/EMS reported that five people had been transported from the scene, including two with critical injuries who were flown in separate helicopters. WKDZ Radio identified the two as the SUV’s driver and passenger, and said they were flown to Nashville.
Meanwhile, the remaining three patients, identified by the radio station as the tractor-trailer driver and two other SUV passengers, were reportedly transported to Jennie Stuart Health via ambulance for minor injuries.
