HOPKINSVILLE, KY — Hopkinsville Crime Stoppers is raising funds by hosting a True Crime Trivia Night on May 9 at Hopkinsville Brewing Company. True Crime fans can form teams of up to six people for a night of mystery and mayhem while raising funds for an organization that helps bring criminals to justice.
“Crime Stoppers is an organization that thrives on continuous community support,” said Officer Royale Marfil. Funds raised during the event will go directly to the Crime Stoppers reward account, which pays citizens monetary rewards for tips that lead to the arrest of individuals.
Currently, the organization receives approximately $120 in donations per month, with the average reward payout exceeding $200.
At a recent board meeting, the idea for a true crime trivia night emerged as a fun and engaging way to attract the public.
In collaboration with the Hopkinsville Junior Auxiliary, questions at the event will focus on popular true crime stories, testing the knowledge of fans of various podcasts and documentaries.
“Crime Stoppers plays a crucial role in supporting local law enforcement and helping keep our community safe,” says Marfil. “Officers can’t be everywhere at once, so vigilant community members step in.
Citizens can anonymously report suspicious activity through the Crime Stoppers tip line, providing vital information that would otherwise go unnoticed.
The cost per team is $150, which includes drink tickets and two large pizzas. Only 14 teams will be permitted to participate in the event.
Door prizes will be available for $2 per entry, sponsored by local businesses such as Alhambra Theatre, Horseshoe Steakhouse, Ruffled Willow, Bluegrass Splash, Little Creek Family Farm, and The Book & Bottle Shop.
